Let’s talk about sex. Lately it’s been a topic of discussion, in various social settings. It seems that everyone’s a little preoccupied. Those that are not having it, want it, those that are having it, are doing with the wrong people. In the end everyone is getting screwed, pun intended, and I’ll tell you why.

The Advice: Starting Over & New Beginnings.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about starting over. Perhaps because over the past month I have undergone a plethora of changes in my own life. Or perhaps it’s because it’s the beginning of a new season. Dating season that is. I don’t know what it is about summer in the city that makes it come alive and makes people think about love and dating and all that other mushy shit. Personally, summer in the city is my favorite, and I’ll tell you why. It’s hot out, I don’t have to wear a thousand layers, everyone is outside all the time till the wee hours of the morning, and there’s so much to do. I feel like everyone feels a little more confident and sexy when the warm weather approaches, but that’s just me. ANYWAY, I digress.

The Advice: Everyone’s Dating, & You’re Still Single….F!ck.

“we spend so much money in gifts for people who get married and have kids because it’s socially accceptable…but no one celebrates being successful, happy, and single. Our society believes that a childless, single woman is an unsuccessful woman.”

 

When I first moved to the city, I had a college friend who also moved around the same time. It was great, because we both picked up our lives and were starting fresh. We were young, single, and ready to paint the town red. We were pretty close in college, and had the same mutual group of friends. Over the past couple of months, everyone had started pairing off, and suddenly we were the two single musketeers in our all female rat pack. We complained about how some of the girls had changed, and had a few girls’ nights, exploring the city. We wondered why we were still single, and joked often about how we could be roomies if we were still single thirty years from now (so dramatic).
