“Welcome to “Style Spotlight,” a series dedicated to our most inspiring, fashion influencers.”
Meet the writer, designer, and creator of STITCHED, Isaac.
Hey everyone! For this week’s Style Spotlight, we sat down with Isaac (aka @IsaacBreese) of STITCHED: a menswear brand that combines vintage, tailored clothing and streetwear. We first connected through Instagram, and we were immediately impressed by his personal style and entrepreneur background. Get to know more about this Temple grad below:
Where are you from?
Southwest Philadelphia.
How do you define your personal style? What or who are your some of your style inspirations?
My personal style is vintage, retro, and a bit of classic with a little new school (I try to combine the two). Also, I like to focus more on shapes than colors. I like putting things together that wouldn’t normally go together. Say for instance, patched jeans with a double breasted peek lapel blazer.
Some of my style inspirations are Dapper Dan, Jerry Lorenzo, Pyer Moss, Aimé Leon Dore, and many Japanese creative directors. I’m inspired by a lot of Japanese and Italian culture in general because of their overall dope style!
What are the essential pieces you must have in your closet?
Definitely a jacket, but not one in particular. As long as it looks good, and has a nice shape to it. I also like coats, especially coats with lapels. I really need my sweatpants, off the shoulder t-shirts cool socks, white sneakers, and crewneck sweaters.
Where do you shop?
Normally I shop at UNIQLO because it’s cheaper and the quality is like Urban Outfitters, but at a price point of H&M. Recently, I’ve been looking for black owned businesses and designers that I like. Right now, I’m wearing Pyer Moss, just the socks and tee. I’ve been looking at people like KITH and Aimé Leon Dore. Last, but not least, I couldn’t forget my own brand, STITCHED.
Describe your personal style in three words?
Modern, vintage, and classic.
Any fashion related tips?
If nobody else was on the earth, what would you wear today? For me, style is not about clothes. It’s more about your way of life: What you eat, workout (If you workout at all), the way you dress, the way you cook, the way you treat people, and the way you talk. All that is part of style. Even today, I wore shorts, yet it’s 55 degrees out. I had to ask myself, if nobody else was on this earth today, would I still wear this? If the answer is yes, that’s what I’m going to wear because that’s my style.
