How did I wear…a floral bow tie?

It’s safe to say that I have officially out grown my “Dapper” or “Classic Man” persona.

Why? I’m not really sure honestly? I’ve bee pulling the whole blazer, and dress pants look over eight years, and I guess it’s time for a change.

Lately, I’ve been going through this button-up chinos phase for a while. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at today’s look. Normally, I feel would naked without my navy blazer. However, I decided to keep it a little simple with my floral bow tie.

Tip: If you want to get a little adventurous with a printed tie, wear solid colors. Preferably, colors that are within the same color scheme as the tie. For example, if you have a floral print tie with pastel colors, stay away from wearing other bold prints. You don’t want to take any attention away from your original neck wear.

As shown above, I went with a very simplistic look. By wearing a basic white button-down, olive chinos, and saddle shoes, I was able to compliment my floral tie very well.

Tip: If white is not your color, pair your floral bow tie with a light wash denim shirt. That will definitely put a different spin on your contemporary look.

So, where did you get the tie from Bryce Lennon? My friends over at ReignBowties sent me on of their best pre-tied bowties to wear. As you can see, I love it!

Make sure head over to their website, you can find a bow tie that reflects your personal style. You won’t be dissappointed!

How did I wear…Chuck Taylors?

Just because you have a large foot, doesn’t mean you can’t style a pair of Chuck Taylors.

Remember, the “Chuck Taylor All-Stars” were originally designed for professional basketball players back in the early 1920s. So, if professional basketball players can get away with wearing them, why can’t a short, big foot guy like myself pull them off? Clearly, I don’t see a problem with it.

Today, I decided to wear my all black Chucks with a cut-off sleeve shirt, and a pair of denim shorts. Now, if it was fall, I would most likely wear skinny jeans with these sneakers. Since it’s too humid for all that, my DIY cut-off shorts were the best option.

Tip: Wearing black during the summer may seem like a big fashion “no, no,” But I actually feel rather comfortable. If black is not your favored option, you should consider white or another lighter color to wear with a pair of all black chucks. You can even try denim.

For a pop of color, I tied an old flannel shirt around my waist.

Tip: If you are wearing mostly solid colors, you should break them up with a patterned item. Plaids, flannels, and other geometric shapes do the trick.

Since these Chucks are black, you don’t have to worry about them getting dirty anytime soon. I actually prefer a nice pair of dirty sneakers, but I can make an exception this time.

How did I wear…harem pants?

Most guys are intimidated by harem pants, but I clearly could care less. Why? I’m not exactly sure. Other than MC Hammer and Kanye, I haven’t noticed too many men wearing harem pants around town. I can only recall a few times in New York, where I have witnessed a group of guys wearing them out. Perhaps, there is a feminine stigma associated with this particular style. Whatever the case may be, these pants are actually comfortable. They’re actually more comfortable than those tight joggers everyone seems to be wearing these.

Tip: Since the leg area is a little snug, going up a size is the best option. Plus, if you plan on throwing these bad boys in the washer, they’re going to shrink anyway.

This brings us back to our original question, how did I wear harem pants?

Today, I decided to wear my harem pants with a graphic tank and pair of leather oxford lace up shoes. Of course, I’m wearing a picture of James Dean on my chest. Everyone knows he’s my style icon.

So where did you get the tank from Bryce Lennon? To make a long story short, I received this tank late last year as a Christmas gift. Since I’m almost infatuated with this iconic figure, it was a perfect fit in my dresser.

What about the footwear? The shoes were picked up from DSW back in 2011. They still look great with other black pieces.

Tip: Remember, it’s summer. So a tank or short sleeve tee is the best option. If you are looking to turn a few heads, try a brightly colored or fancy graphic tee with your harem pants.

Fellas, I hope you can build a little courage and purchase a pair of harem pants. If you already own a pair, share your experiences with us below.

How did I wear…4th of July apparel?

Before you wear anything 4th of July related, you have to buy something first. Many retail stores have been selling 4th of July apparel since the end of May. So, I don’t want to hear the same excuse, “Oh I have nothing to wear for the 4th. That’s why I’m not wearing red, blue, or white.” If this sounds familiar, it’s probably you! Do better, and let’s get in to the holiday spirit.

Tip: Try stores like H&M, Old Navy, Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, and Target if you are looking for stylish, 4th of July apparel.

Since I’m more of a tank and t-shirt kind of guy, I decided to wear this old American flag tank from Urban Outfitters. Now, this shirt has been worn on numerous occasions, but I have never worn it with a pair of white skinny jeans.

Tip: Make sure if you wear white, stay away from dirty chairs and food stains. Since you are out and about, you won’t have time to change with a few stains on your leg. Be careful!

To complete this look, I tied an old denim shirt around my waist and slipped in a pair of leather oxofrd shoes. So, why did I wrap a old denim shirt around my waist? I’m always cold, even during the summer. As a precaution, I can throw on my denim shirt if it gets a little chilly at night.

Now, I have to admit, this outfit is a little risky for cookout fun. White is such a vulnerable color. If you are as careful as I am, you will walk out of danger spot free.

Happy 4th of July folks! See you on Monday. Thanks for reading!
