How did I wear…little black suspenders?

With the first day of fall rapidly approaching, I thought it would be a great opportunity to wear my newly purchased black suspenders out the house.

Tip: If you are looking for suspenders, head right over to H&M. For less than $15, you can have a new pair hanging right in your closet. If H&M is not your friend, try Banana Republic or Macys.

Traditionally, I wear my suspenders with a freshly ironed button-up, neck tie, and slacks.

As you already know, my personal style is very nontraditional. So, I decided to tuck in a semi-loose fitting crew neck tee from H&M into my skinny jeans.

Tip: There are different types of suspenders out there. If you are going for a casual look, clip-on suspenders are your best option. Simply clip the clasps down to your pants, and you’re ready to go. For a versatile option, try the convertible fastening suspenders.

With this look, I decided to pay homage to one of my favorite childhood television sitcoms, Family Matters. Just imagine Stefan transforming back into Steve Urkle. Disclaimer: For those of you born afer 1994, Steve Urkel always wore his t-shirts tucked in his jeans.

Tip: If you tuck in your shirt, you may feel a little weird. If it’s still hot outside, your suspenders can be worn with a tank as well. That definitely has old school written all over it.

Needless to say, this was one simple, but daring look. Rocking a tucked in t-shirt look is a difficult task. Under the right circumstances, this look can be pulled together with the help of a few accessories, one including suspenders.

How did I wear…a Cashmere Sweater?

With a big weather change on the rise in the next couple of weeks, it’s safe to say that my wardrobe will be going through a big transition as well. It’s about that time where my closet is infested with cardigans, sweaters, and long sleeve t-shirts.

So, what happens when it’s still 90 degrees in the middle of September? Easy, you wear a long sleeve sweater with the right pair of shorts.

For this look, I wore a purple, Cashmere sweater with a pair of European cut navy shorts and leather penny loafers.

Tip: If you are looking for the perfect summer/fall sweater, cashmere is your best option. Stores like H&M, GAP, UNIQLO, Banana Republic, and Old Navy sell their sweaters year round. So, if you are looking for a thin sweater, take a trip to your local mall. I’m sure you walk out with at least two purchases.

Okay, so I know this combo sounds like an oxymoron, but this has been my “Go-to” look this month. It’s simply versatility at it’s finest!

Tip: Since this is kind of a street, preppy look, you should go with shorts above the knee. A pair of longer length shorts definitely won’t look right with a cashmere sweater.

If you are like me and like showing a little skin, the v-neck sweater is your best option. Remember, it’s technically still summer. So, don’t be afraid to roll up the sleeves to show off those nice forearms.

Tip: With this particular look, try to avoid sneakers. Go with a nice penny or tassel loafer.

With all that being said, this look has Carlton Banks written all over it.

How did I wear…Chuck Taylor All-Stars?

As we transition between August and September, I’m looking forward to wearing out my white sneakers for the next couple of weeks.

Why only two weeks? Since Labor Day falls on September 7th, we only have two Mondays until the “No White After Labor Day” rule takes in effect.

With all that being said, I thought today would be a great opportunity to pull out my newly purchased, white Chuck Taylors for some week day fun.

Tip: When wearing white Chuck Taylors, there are only two options available. You can either keep them dirty or clean. For myself, I actually prefer an aged and dirty converse look. Just in case if you hate the dirty look, just throw your shoes in the washer. Once they are done, they are ready for the sidewalk. It’s that easy!

Similar to one of my previous looks, I decided to wear my Converses with a mid-sleeve, contrasted tee and cut-off denim shorts.

If you haven’t noticed, the contrasted sleeve tee is back this season. Most retail stores have them in stock. I actually picked up mine from Forever21 for under $10. A steal, right?

Tip: When purchasing a pair of converses, you may need to go down a size. Fellas remember, these sneakers run a little big. So, don’t feel demasculated if you go down a shoe size. Your foot did not shrink.

To finish off this look, I wore a pair of knee high socks.

Knee high socks? As you already know, I have a thing for retro inspired looks. So, it should come to no surprise that I decided to grab this dated socks from the depths of my father’s dresser.

How much wear and tear do you plan to get out of your Chuck Taylors this season? Feel free to share with us in the comments section below!

How did I wear…a tribal print cardigan?

Well, if you take a look at one of the pictures shown above, I’m wearing little to no clothing.

Why? Well, remember that time there was a 60 percent probability of rain, and it was 90 degrees outside? Well, it’s too humid to wear another piece of clothing under my cardigan. So, I decided to leave my shirt at home, and went outside bare chested.

Tip: Just in case you don’t feel comfortable going outside bare chested, try a thin tank top. I always pick up my tank tops from H&M and ASOS, since they have the cheapest prices. Of course, there are other options out there depending on your liking.

For the lower half of my outfit, I went with my favorite distressed, light washed denim jeans, and a pair of leather oxford lace-up shoes.

Tip: For bottoms, you could either go with a pair of shorts, denim jeans, swim trunks, or joggers. Remember though, it’s a little hot outside. So, you may want to stick with the shorts.

In short, I love this look! It’s perfect for one of those weekend trips to NYC during the summer. I can just sit back relax, and not worry about my clothes getting too sweaty. Well, maybe under my armpits, but that’s why we have great deodorants.
