How Did I Wear…

Jeans: H&M | Loafers: ASOS

How did I wear…a plaid poncho

I have a soft spot for any affordable poncho that can keep me warm, especially a plaid one. Not only is this accessory the perfect addition to my fall wardrobe, it can easily be styled as well.

Tip: Ponchos are very common to come by these days. Your best option is Forever21 or ASOS, if you are looking for an affordable one. Mine was about $30. Not bad, right?

With a very bold print of green, burgundy, gold, white, and navy, the rest of my outfit was very dressed down. I paired my poncho with a white button-up, my favorite distressed jeans, and a pair of suede tassel loafers. The simplicity from the button-up and jeans made the poncho stand out even more.

Tip: I typically style my poncho with primary colors like black, white, or navy. It’s the safest option, especially if your poncho has a loud print.

I normally like wearing ponchos to local events like fashion shows, happy hours, and even wine tastings. Of course, people love staring whenever I walk in wearing this over-sized “rug.” However, I do receive many compliments as well.

Tip: For footwear, you should consider wearing boots or loafers. Depending on how casual you want to go, you could even pull off a nice pair of sneakers with your poncho.

Casual: Layering

post_alex3_091715_01post_alex3_091715_02post_alex3_091715_03post_alex3_091715_04post_alex3_091715_05Coat: GAP | Sweatshirt: J. Crew|
Flannel: J. Crew | Jeans: GAP |
Boots: LL Bean | Watch: Daniel Wellington

“This look, though simple, covers all of my essential fall needs.” -Alex

The art of layering is an important skill for anyone who plans on surviving the holiday season. It’s the perfect plan when you really don’t know how to dress for the weather.

For our friend Alex, layering is almost an everyday habit.

Take for instance his featured outfit, as shown above. Alex layered a multi-colored plaid button-up under a two toned sweatshirt and a Sherpa Cord jacket. The sweatshirt is very warm and stylish, and its simple two toned color scheme adds a level of versatility. It can be worn with almost any color.

According to Alex, “While brightening up what can end up being a pretty muted fall color palette of options, and the slim silhouette definitely sheds the frumpy idea of a traditional sweatshirt.”

In addition, the jacket itself is the perfect transitional outerwear for fall and winter.

Now, that we have discussed the first half of his outfit, let’s move on to Alex’s lower region. For this look, he decided to wear his distressed jeans with a pair of duck boots. Alex states, “My favorite part of this outfit is definitely the LL Bean duck boots. Literally completely waterproof, fall and early winter rains are not a problem. While the the insulate upper keeps my feet warm along with dry. Plus, due to a classic colorway, they make the perfect fall contrast for the washed denim I’m wearing, along with cords and chinos.”

Overall, another job well done Alex!

Men’s Style Mondays

Pants: Uxcell | Boots: DSW

Last week, I decided to take a trip to a nearby Salvation Army after work. After browsing around the outerwear section for a few minutes, I happened to stumble across this amazing military blazer. To my surprise, the jacket was only $10. Not bad if you only have $15 cash in your pocket.

This light weight blazer is very detailed, with a variety of stitched emblems. Since this season is all about wearing black with a little pop of color, I decided to wear my newly purchased jacket with an all black ensemble. The rest of my outfit includes a turtleneck, harem pants, and boots.

Casual: All Black

post_julia2_101615_01post_julia2_101615_02post_julia2_101615_03post_julia2_101615_04post_julia2_101615_08Top: Zumiez | Jeans: Forever 21 |
Heels: Sam & Libby | Fedora: Forever 21

Black on black is the way to go this season, especially during the cooler months. Pairing together the right blouse, blazer, jeans, skirt, or coat, can elevate your entire look with little to no effort.

For this post, our girl Julia decided to show off her latest, all black look. This outfit consists of a quarter length, sheer blouse, rolled up skinny jeans, and heels, which were all purchased from different stores.

Continuing with this theme, the shirt and pants go perfectly together, giving Julia a very chic appearance.

To switch it up, she threw on her favorite, camel colored wide brim fedora. Like black, camel is very popular this season as well.

Overall, we love how Julia she pulled this look together. It’s very simple, yet sophisticated at the same time.
