In order to maintain structure within society, we must abide by a specific set rules at all times. If not followed, these rules can lead to severe consequences.

Within the world of fashion, there are a few rules set in place to help eliminate unflattering looks. Luckily for us, some of these rules are meant to be broken.  For those of us that love wearing brown and black together, you have broken one of the earliest rules of fashion. Needless to say, this rule should have been broken from the very beginning.

As shown above, I decided to put together a black and brown look for this week’s #MensStyleMondays post.

When pairing the two colors together, I always go with black pants and brown shoes. I wore my favorite black skinny jeans from River Island with my old pair of wingtip, oxford boots from Aston Grey. For the rest of my outfit, I went with a basic grey v-neck tee and a clunky cardigan, both from GAP. Just in case the temperature decided to drop, I tied an old denim shirt around my waist.

How would you pair black and brown together? Let us know in the comments section below.

Men’s Style Mondays

One one of my personal goals this season was to break outside of my comfort zone by including other colors into my wardrobe. Since I’m such a naturally fun and bubbly person, you would think I would enjoy wearing colors that are truly representative of my personality. However, this is not always the case.

For anyone that is familiar with my background, I grew up in the Northern state where the temperature drops near the middle of September. As a result, my closet includes varying shades of navy, green, and grey. Now don’t get me wrong, I love all colors, but I often find myself drawn to these colors more so than others.

Recently, I decided to make a few minor adjustments to my wardrobe by adding other colors like red, burgundy, khaki, orange, yellow, and brown to the mix!

With all that being said, I decided to embrace the final days of autumn in this week’s #MensStyleMondays post. Scroll down for the full feature!

Jeans: River Island | Socks: H&M | Shoes: Steve Madden

For those of you wondering, this season is all about plaid and flannel shirts. In almost any major retail store, you will find a variety of flannel shirts either folded on a shelf or hanging from a rolling rack. I received my flannel shirt as an old Christmas Gift a few years back, and it was purchased from the Polo Outlet store. Although this shirt was designed Ralph Lauren, it’s not tailored to your body. If tucked in your pants or worn for long periods of time, the shirt gets a little loose on the sides. For fashion safety purposes, I wore this shirt under a tweed waist coat from Urban Outfitters, and a khaki jacket from GAP. This waist coat was purchased on sale way back in 2011, and I have loved it ever since. For the jacket, I picked it up during one of those end of the season GAP sales for $27. That’s not bad for a khaki jacket if you ask me!

I decided to dress down my outfit with a pair of skinny jeans, manufactured by River Island.

Continuing with this autumn themed look, I decided to accessorize my double monk-strap leather shoes with a pair of red socks. Now, I know what you are thinking, dress shoes and denim? Well, if you own the right pair of jeans and shoes, why not wear them together! That’s the great thing about personal style, you can bend the rules to suite your fashion needs.

Thank you for reading today’s post. If you have something to say about this outfit, please leave some comments below!

See you next week folks!

Men’s Style Mondays

During the months of September and December, the temperature can easily change from 70 to 30 degrees within a twenty four hour period. With that information in mind, it’s important to be prepared for unpredictable temperature changes each day. What’s a better way to prepare than wearing a few extra layers of clothing.

Furthermore, a discussion of autumn layering leads to this week’s #MensStyleMondays post. Today, I decided to show off one of my business casual, work outfits. Check out the full feature below!

Socks: H&M | Saddle Shoes: G.H. Bass

Personally, I am very proud of this outfit. The colors went perfectly together.

At first, I was unsure of how to incorporate the various colors of autumn into my outfit. After mixing and matching a few items, I figured out how to a create a natural look with different layers. Typically, the foundation for most of my outfits consist of two primary colors. In this particular case, I started this outfit with the green and white striped button-down and navy necktie.

For anyone that has checked out one of our #MensStyleMondays posts in the past, you understand my love for waistcoats and vests. So, I decided to wear a brown, tweed waistcoat to help keep me warm and elongate my torso.

Although the tweed waist coat looked perfect over my green button-down and navy necktie, there was still something missing. At the last minute, I threw on my grey jersey blazer with a polka dot pocket square.

Since this was a semi-casual look, I decided to dress down my outfit with a pair of denim jeans. These jeans were purchased from Hot Topic some time last year. Every once in a while, I get the opportunity to wear these jeans with a few blazers. Finally, I finished off my outfit with a pair of suede saddle shoes.

How do you layer your clothes during the cooler months? Tell us in the comment section below!
