As we continue to embark upon our world of digital communication and on-line marketing, the blogging industry has become more gender balanced than ever before. At one point, fashion blogging was a “Girls Only” type of scenario, where women would offer fashion and beauty tips to their eager fans. Recently, all that has changed. With the rise of social networks  and on-line fashion diaries like Lookbook, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, men have also jumped on the fashion blogging bandwagon.

With all that being said, I recently stumbled across a newly created website entitled, “IsleStyle.”

A blog dedicated to capturing the true essence of men’s fashion,  IsleStyle aims to focus on the perspectives of two college students, Nick and Kasey. On the blog itself, Nick and Kasey have clearly defined their idea of style, and how they plan to help those that need a little inspiration as well.

From my personal perspective, I see the direction these two are headed in. For one, there’s not too many male bloggers that put their friendship in the limelight. Most blogs usually focus on one person, with a strong team backing them. Thus, these two have already branded themselves differently than many other bloggers.

If they keep it up the hard work, Nick and Kasey will have a very large fan base in no time. Plus, their fans will appreciate all their help.

When you get a chance, check out their blog! Feel free to follow there personal Instagram accounts @zeenickster and @kaseykreid.

Congrats Nick and Kasey for landing this week’s #FEATUREFRIDAY post! We expect great things from the both of you in the near future.

Around this time of the year, most of us are stuck in the house during the winter months.

Why? For one, snow! In the North, we experience snow around the first few weeks of December. If we get lucky, it snows even sooner. Unfortunately, this year was a different story. The first day of snow came earlier last week. To much surprise, we received at least eight inches of snow. Can you say snow day?

Rather than being stuck in the house all day, I decided to venture out and have a little fun. Although my coat is one of the first things I grab before heading outside, I decided to wear a blazer instead.

Are you crazy? No, not at all. I was recently inspired by an H&M ad to layer denim shirts, hooded sweaters, and blazers together. So, I gave it a try.

When layering, you should always start with a solid or plaid button-up. In my case, I decided to throw on an old denim shirt from H&M. This shirt has a reputation for pulling together most of my layered looks.

The next part of my outfit included a toggle, hooded sweater from GAP Outlet. Now to be perfectly honest, I’m not a fan of dressing up a hoodie. It’s rather difficult in my opinion. Needless to say, this sweater looks great over a denim shirt.

With two layers in place, it was time to add the blazer. Both tailored and detailed, this blazer was purchased from Urban Outfitters a few years ago. For just $20, this blazer has come in handy so many times.

The rest of my outfit consisted of a pair of pants and boots. Since jeans typically take in a lot of moisture, I decided to step out in my skinny chinos from American Eagle. I really love how the pants add a pop of color to my outfit. Your attention is immediately drawn to the rusty chinos. In addition, you can never go wrong with duck boots, especially during a snow day. They are constructed to take on the elements of mother nature.

Overall, I had a lot of fun playing in the snow. Every once in a while, it feels good to relive the moments of my childhood. Then, I remember how much I love being an adult.

Shopping in general can be very frustrating, especially if you are over six feet tall. Most of the clothing available to taller women are either too short or not stylish enough. So, you may spend a couple years getting your wardrobe together.

“So, you’re telling me that people have to deal with weight, and height problems.”

Exactly! It’s very unfortunate, but it happens all the time.  For instance, my best friend is over six feet tall and she has the hardest time finding clothes that fit properly. Whenever she shops in stores, her size is always sold out. When she shops on-line, the clothes never fit or they are over priced.

So, what’s a girl to do? Should you settle for the long sleeve t-shirt that shows your entire wrist, or should you consider buying the shirt that looks like your Grandmother wore it last week?. Well, if you are that tall girl looking for fashion advice, you should head over to ToldbyDruDoll. A fashion blog dedicated to high fashion and personal style, Toldbydrudoll gives us a closer look into another fashionista’s closet. This time, it’s from a taller perspective.

Standing at six feet tall, Drudoll shows off the many dimensions of her personal style through weekly outfit posts. Her looks range from casual with sneakers and pants, to semi-formal with pencil skirts and blouses. If you hit the blog on a regular, expect to see a pair of heels or flats  in almost every post. Remember, the sky is the limit, especially if you add a few inches to your legs.

Also, there is a section on the blog entitled, “Tall Girl Tales,” where Drudoll provides advice on how to tall girls can dress for any occasion.

For a new blogger, Drudoll has a lot of potential. We expect great things from her in the future. Be on the lookout for other updates on her blog coming soon.

Congratulations Drudoll!

Chinos: H&M | Saddle Shoes: G.H Bass

Recently, I came across an old VHS copy of my favorite childhood television show, “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.” Syndicated back from the late 60’s, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was one of the best children based television programs of it’s time. Furthermore, this show served as the foundation for fun and excitement during my earliest childhood memories. With all that being said, I thought it would be appropriate to pay homage to Mr. Rogers in this week’s #MensStyleMondays post.

A man known for wearing cardigan sweaters, chinos, plaid button-ups, and Keds, Mr. Rogers became a catalyst for mainstream, preppy fashion. Taking all this into consideration, I decided to put away my combat boots, and throw on my favorite pair of leather saddle shoe from G.H. Bass. These kicks were purchased a few years back from DSW Shoe Warehouse, and I instantly fell in love with them! For one, they come in almost every possible color combination. Plus, they look great when worn with denim or chinos.

In order to maintain this preppy look, I went with a pair of navy chinos from H&M. Like the saddle shoes, these pants were also purchased a couple years back. I actually like these pants because the leg is not too tight, and the crotch area is not as constricting as you would think. They are the perfect pair of chinos for home or work.

Rather than a solid color button-up and cardigan like Mr. Rogers, I went with a blazer from ASOS and a Ralph Lauren plaid shirt instead. When styling a solid color blazer, think about a patterned or printed shirt underneath. When you want to add some character to your outfit, stick with plaids. If you are a little more adventurous, try floral or polka dot prints. Remember, we are focusing on a preppy look here. So, solid colors and plaids are the most popular.

So, I have the shoes, pants, shirt, and blazer, but what am I forgetting? Oh, the necktie! With any preppy inspired look, a solid color neck tie can put the final touches on your outfit.

Growing up, what was your favorite childhood television show? If you could embody a character from that show, how would you modernize their look? Feel free to leave us some comments below.
