Although denim jeans are worn with almost every outfit, finding that right pair can be a difficult task. This leads us to our feature with Nate. Today, he incorporates a pair of black denim jeans with his urban inspired look.
What does the “right pair” of denim jeans look and feel like? We borrowed a guide from the DXL Blog that discusses how to purchase the right pair of denim jeans below:
1) Don’t buy a pair that fits perfectly in the dressing room. Buy a size down or make sure they’re snug, as they’ll stretch almost a full size during your first few months of wear.
2) Be sure to inspect for quality, especially if you would like to have them a long time. The cleaner the stitching, the smoother it’ll feel against your skin. Plus, there’s nothing worse than literally coming apart at the seams.
3) Stay away from styles with big logos or decorative stitching. These embellishments may work against you and actually accentuate any not-so-flattering areas. Plus, you don’t want the design to overpower the rest of your outfit, or shorten the life of the jeans if the style is overly trendy.
4) With a wide range of colors to choose from, stick to classic blues and dark rinses which tend to be the most slimming. Avoid faded jeans or light blue rinses.
We personally were not with Nate when he purchased his denim jeans, however, we think his jeans fit the criterion for all of the checklist items mentioned above.
For his body type, Nate’s jeans are not too snug or too lose. They are a perfect fit for a casual day around the city.
