Street Style: Urban Fashion

Lets take  a stroll down memory lane. The year is 1997 and  Puff Daddy and Ma$e are hopping around in their green, leather baseball Jerseys in the “Feels So Good” music video. After that video, every street walker had a leather baseball jersey in almost every color.

Lets take it back even further. Before the 90’s hip-hop influence on urban fashion, there was the 80s. How could we forget to acknowledge the dynamic, hip-hop trio Salt-N-Pepa! Salt, Pepa, and DJ Spinderella were known for wearing their African printed hats and jackets, skin tight jumpsuits, gold chains, and knee high leather boots in the 80s.

If you were born close to when Bobby Brown departed from New Edition, you understand how much hip-hop and r&b set the style precedent for “Urban Fashion.

For this post, we decided to feature an individual that embraces urban fashion on a daily basis. UnregisteredStyle would like to introduce an old friend of ours, Nate.

Check out how Nate channels urban fashion in suburban America.

In the past, urban fashion was heavily influenced by brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Nautica, and DKNY. Today, most of those brands are still being worn today, but have combined with graphics, prints, and skater trends.

Nate’s urban apparel was inspired by modern hip-hop trends and casual gear. For starters, he is wearing a Nike baseball shirt with red contrasted sleeves. He paired his shirt with dark washed denim jeans from Levis.

“Natural trends repeat themselves. However, a “fresh” pair of Jordans never go out of style.” -Nate

Most twenty something year old guys spend their money on gas, food, and liquor. However, there are always extra funds allocated to a sneaker collection. If you are the guy that has a massive sneaker collection, you own at least ten pairs of Jordans. Not only do you own ten pairs of Jordan’s in every color, they probably have never been taken out of the box.

The shoe collector Nate, never goes out the house without wearing a pair. He never feels complete without a pair of Jordans. He states, “The shoes themselves are classics revisited.”
