How Did I Wear…

How did I wear…Chuck Taylors?

Just because you have a large foot, doesn’t mean you can’t style a pair of Chuck Taylors.

Remember, the “Chuck Taylor All-Stars” were originally designed for professional basketball players back in the early 1920s. So, if professional basketball players can get away with wearing them, why can’t a short, big foot guy like myself pull them off? Clearly, I don’t see a problem with it.

Today, I decided to wear my all black Chucks with a cut-off sleeve shirt, and a pair of denim shorts. Now, if it was fall, I would most likely wear skinny jeans with these sneakers. Since it’s too humid for all that, my DIY cut-off shorts were the best option.

Tip: Wearing black during the summer may seem like a big fashion “no, no,” But I actually feel rather comfortable. If black is not your favored option, you should consider white or another lighter color to wear with a pair of all black chucks. You can even try denim.

For a pop of color, I tied an old flannel shirt around my waist.

Tip: If you are wearing mostly solid colors, you should break them up with a patterned item. Plaids, flannels, and other geometric shapes do the trick.

Since these Chucks are black, you don’t have to worry about them getting dirty anytime soon. I actually prefer a nice pair of dirty sneakers, but I can make an exception this time.

Casual: The Go-To Outfit

Shoes: The People’s Movement

For the most part, everyone has one or two “Go-to” outfits in their closet. For us, we pull them out for comfort, or when we have errands to run. Whatever the case may be, who says you have to sacrifice style for comfort?

Today, our model Kris proves that simple outfits can also catch a few glances. His wool joggers are versatile in that they can be used in the casual and formal world. Kris states, “The clean wool blend meshes well with a dress shirt and tie as well as some kick around sneakers and a t shirt.”

Joggers are great a purchase because they come in so many styles, such as sweat, chino or khaki.

To accent the dark grey wool, he chose to wear an open buttoned light-blue button up. With darker colors sometimes contrasting it with a brighter color can make your outfit pop. To give his look the summertime feels he opted to wear an exaggerated tank top.

Fellas remember, don’t be afraid to show a little cleavage as well, especially if the gym has been your friend as of late. If you’re a little self-conscious, add a pocket square or necklace to take away attention from your chest. Don’t be afraid to play around with accessories.

Shoes may be the most important part of a look. If not chosen carefully, your whole look may turn out wrong. With his light weight style maroon boots and wheat laces, Kris shows off a trendy youthful look. He had this to say about his shoes, “The People’s Movement sneakers were a gem that I picked up from my company. They are an older style from “The People’s Movement,” which count as a boot and sneaker from it’s design and light weight.”

With all that being said, we love Kris’ summer look. How do you feel about his outfit? Feel free to share with us in the comments section below.

Men’s Style Mondays

Jeans: ASOS | Tassel Loafers: DSW

Last weekend, I had an opportunity to travel and meet up with my blogger friend, Cody Dash. Straight out of the Big Apple, Cody has a great sense of fashion and personal style. He even has his own fashion blog as well, “OPENDOORPOLICY.”

Since we both have an eye for fashion, we thought it would be a great idea to collaborate on a few looks together. For the first one, we both decided to go for a semi-casual dapper look. So, I thought it would be great idea to pair this old, yellow racer back tank with one of my newly purchased tuxedo jackets.

Okay, so I know this may be a little sidebar, but I love everything about the color yellow!

Bryce Lennon, I actually don’t know you that well. What’s the deal with the color? Well for starters, it’s my favorite color in the world. Think about it! It’s bright, fun, and it accurately reflects my personalty. So, I love incorporating the color with most of my looks.

Let’s take a break from the yellow appreciation, and get back on track. For the rest of my outfit, I decided to dress down the blazer and tank with a pair of distressed denim jeans, and leather loafers. The jeans help add a little grungy element to the entire look, while the brown loafers add a trendy twist to a flashy look.

So, what do you think about this particular look? Feel free to share with us in the comments section below.

Casual: A Little Skin

Summer is all about showing off your beautiful and smooth skin. Remember, it’s the only time of the year when you can walk around with most of your body exposed, with little to no judgement.

Why? Since it’s scorching hot outside, everyone will expose at least ninety percent of their bodies outside. We don’t have time for embarrassing sweat stains, heat strokes, and cotton mouth.

With all that being said, our girl Regina decided to dress comfortably in her summer appropriate attire. She had this to say about her look, ” This outfit is my fave when I wanna show some of my quirky personality.”

Dressed in a tied button-up,sleeveless kimono, and high platform sandals, Regina is showing a little skin in her high waisted denim shorts. Honestly, every women should own atleast one or two pairs of denim shorts. If you don’t, make some yourself. Travel to your local thrift store, buy an old pair of jeans, and start cutting away. In a matter of ten minutes, you are ready to show off your legs in an authentic pair of shorts.

Regina agrees with us, and she had this to say about her look, “Hats and long shirts are my comfort zone, but as the rest of my ladies, we love to show some leg!” Yes, we agree Regina! Every girl loves showing a little leg, especially if you are trying to be on the scene.

In addition, Regina further accessorized her look with a wide brim fedora, glasses, watch, and a leather purse.

So, what do you think about this look?
