Casual: Winter Accessories

With the first official day of spring right around the corner, we are still encountering winter storms every other weekend.

Don’t get us wrong, snowfall is one of the most beautiful elements of mother nature. However, more than one snow storm a season can affect your life depending on how to dress in the snow.

For instance, we found a common correlation between personal style, health, and snow storms. Wait, how are these related? Think about it, if your clothing gets ruined or wet in the snow, you are more inclined to get sick or freeze to death outside. If you happen to get sick, forget about those late winter sales at the mall. Thus, it is very important to invest in a variety of winter accessories. You can never have too many hats, gloves, and scarves for the winter.

With all that being said, we wanted to dedicate this post to winter accessories. Below, our veteran personal style model Janaia shows us how she wears her scarf, gloves, and jacket in the middle of a snow storm.

If you are venturing our to purchase accessories, think about versatility and style. In terms of versatility, you want to purchase accessories that can be worn with more than one outfit. Think about it, scarves, hats, and gloves, were created to reinforce heat within your body. Therefore, they were meant to be worn more than once. We understand that there are special occasions, but why would you buy an accessory or two for only one outfit?

For style, your accessories should make a bold statement. There are over a million accessories out there so just see what works for your look. Think about colors, patterns, and fabrics. For example, both solid color and patterned scarves can add a lot of color your outfit. Janaia states, “Just because its winter doesn’t mean you have to stay away from bright colors. Be more daring!”

“Winter is my favorite season for my wardrobe ” – Janaia

Janaia’s accessories are either brightly colored or dark.

For instance, she combined her outfit with a floral, authentic scarf from Thailand.  From our personal experiences, you can never go wrong with foreign garments. If you are among a crowd, people will stop, stare, and ask where you can purchase that particular accessory.  Especially an accessory that is as interesting as the one Janaia is wearing.

In terms of fashion, the scarf is making a bold statement on its own. Adding both a pop of color and print are very appealing to the eye. Janaia states, “A pop of color makes you stand out against the snowy days.”
