After 5: Plaid Suit

Full suits for formal and evening wear have been a trend for the last couple years. Back in the day most men wouldn’t be seen in full formal wear for date night or just a night on the town, but the rules have changed.

Today, our model Kris proves just that with a bold suit piece in clad in all plaid. With his dark plaid suit, Kris has contrasted it with a bright red plaid tie and gold lapel which is a simple, but debonair gesture.

Going into a little more details about lapels, Kris reminds us, “A lapel pin does your outfit justice without stealing all the shine, but at the same time makes its own statement.”

In addition, matching plaid is not always the easiest look to pull off. Fortunately, Kris has advice for those thinking about the look. He states, “Most men wouldn’t attempt to wear plaid, especially a full suit of it. This shows everyone that your style is your style and you’re not ashamed to set trends. Get a plaid suit or two in your collection and the compliments will flourish.”

The good things with bold pieces such as Kris’ are that they make statements and reveal your own style. The point of the matter is to keep making statements.

After 5: Outerwear

Although spring is full in effect that doesn’t mean you have to put away your jackets and button up’s just yet. As the sun shines throughout the day, there’s still a cool enough breeze to bring out your favorite outerwear piece, the leather jacket!

This week on UnregisteredStyle.com, we had a chance to link up with our friend Ismail. Today, this aspiring musician shows us how to dress for those chilly evenings.

When stepping out after 5, be sure to dress in layers. Your favorite articles of clothing like jackets, windbreakers, button-ups, sweatshirts, and sweaters are all spring appropriate. So, you should always keep them around for back up. They definitely come in handy!

For instance, Ismail decided to layer his favorite jacket and button-up. Like we always say, you can’t go wrong with black on black, and Ismail pulled this look together with little to no effort. His black items were broken up with a pair of denim jeans, loafers, and a purple scarf.

A scarf in the Spring? Like we said, it gets a little chilly around this time each day. So, you have to do what’s necessary to survive at this point.

In all fairness, Ismail had this to say about his attire, “I believe that way you dress is comparable to the company you keep. It reflects who you are and affects how you’re interpreted.”

We couldn’t agree with you more sir! Thanks Ismail for another great look.

“Style- a particular way in which something is done, created, or performed” -Merriam-Webster

Style is just that, something you create, not duplicate. If you don’t believe us, just ask our girl Hanan.

Back after a year hiatus, Hanan drops by UnregisteredStyle to show off her latest casual look. Today, Hanan is displaying her her own unique taste, and wearing what works for her. She paired together a graphic tee with a full length, pleated, maxi skirt from Pacsun. Simple, yet elegant, this skirt is perfect for a casual afternoon on the yard. She states, “One reason I wore this was because it was not too hot, but not chilly, and I wanted to be comfortable but pretty.”

Hannan topped her look with a handmade body chain made from necklaces and her thrifted clutch bag. With round sun glasses in tow, she looks as if she could be headed to Coachella, or just a chill day on the town.

Comfort in fashion is often dismissed as being dressed down, but Hanan proves that you can be comfortable in style.

How do you like this look? Feel free to share with us in the comments sections below!

Strictly Business: Plaid Blazer

post_kris_033015_03post_kris_033015_04post_kris_033015_01post_kris_033015_02post_kris_033015_05Blazer: Topman |
Pants and shirt: Gap |
Shoes: Cole Haan

Who says you can’t have some color when in formal mode? Without a doubt, the laws of formal attire have seemed to change since our father’s time. Simple white shirts and black slacks have gone out the window while patterns, pastels, and fitted pants have taken over. With this change, have come the rules of office attire and regular outer wear.

With all that being said, we recently had an opportunity to catch up with our friend Kris. Today, Kris shows off one of his transitional, office looks.

He explains, “I have worn this to work, business meetings and went straight to happy hour.”

The lovely thing about a blazer is that you can switch it up from the cramped cubicle in the office to drinking your favorite grown man drink.

Although ties can be worn with blazers, it was not needed and would have taken away from this styled olive oil look. Kris agrees, “A tie is absent with this blazer because it is hard to go a blazer like this justice with a tie, especially since the blazer is decorated enough to make a statement.”

So, if this post teaches you anything, remember to switch up your plain khaki office attire. Add some color to your life!
