Strictly Business: The Gray Suit

For the first half of the fall season, we have featured a variety of street style and casual looks from our models.  Lately, we have received quite a few requests for more business inspired outfits.

Let’s take a step back in time and remember the first featured look for fall. That post was dedicated to a business inspired outfit from Malcolm. In addition, we created the “Strictly Business” category, which we haven’t added anymore content until today!

For this post, we would like to introduce Ryan, a twenty five year old Creative Director of Steve Allen Yacht Club Clothing CO.

Below, he provides us with another example of how to wear a single breasted suit before the temperature drops below the 40 degree line.

Like most young, twenty something year olds, owning a suit is a great start into adulthood and maturity. If you are a beginner suit owner, you may want to start out with a gray suit. Owning a gray suit is a great investment as it offers the most versatility and durability for any beginner. The versatility arises from the number of events this suit can be worn which include corporate meetings, funerals, special engagements, and weddings.

Gray suits can be worn on a day to day and are one of the most professional of colors!” -Ryan

As mentioned above, the color gray offers more versatility than any other suit. More specifically, a medium gray suit can be worn during any season.

Ryan’s suit separates were purchased for a reasonable price from H&M. To compliment his look, Ryan is wearing a white button-down dress shirt from J.Crew and a red silk tie from BELK. By combining the gray suit with the white button-down dress shirt and red tie, illustrates a professional look to Ryan’s entire outfit.

Ryan’s style is shown from top to bottom in this suit. He defines his style in the following statement, “Style is an object that defines us in our everyday life. You can’t hide your style or put it away in a closet. Our style wears us every day. It’s really about your character and what you see yourself as in contrast to some type of guide or rules that constrict us. In other words, there are no real boundaries to style.”

With that being said, there are no true boundaries to style.
