Street Style: Outerwear

Fall 2013 is the season where anything goes, well temperature wise at least. Here in the Garden State, the temperature ranges from 60 to 70 degrees during the afternoon, and drops to about 40 to 50 degrees in the evening. So, it is important for us to dress appropriately to prevent common illnesses like colds and fevers. Carrying extra outwear pieces like jackets, coats, sweaters, and hooded sweatshirts will help prepare us for those colder, evening hours.

For this post, we decided to feature an individual that embodies personal style with outwear fashion. Our old friend from high school, Justin, is very good at combining his unique style with additional clothing pieces.

“My own personal style is just however I’m feeling at the time , literally. Could be a movie I watched or a song that I was listening to. Sometimes Ill turn on some Dipset and feel real wavy and dress so, or some Smiths and feel real depressed and dress how their music makes me feel.’ -Justin

For the many years that we have known Justin, he has always had a appreciation for quite a few things: unique jackets, hats, and Jordans. For this particular post, Justin is showing us his appreciation for outerwear. Below, we have an example of how Justin wears transitional pieces to accommodate for the bizarre temperature this season.

Like most articles of clothing, the history of the raincoat is very uncertain and there is no need to investigate in its origins. However, we will discuss its influence on our fall wardrobe.

We use the raincoat to layer and protect us from the elements of mother nature. The modern raincoat ranges from size, color, and material. With that being said, the raincoat is a perfect addition to any wardrobe.

Justin is wearing an orange, hooded raincoat from Urban Outfitters. He states, “The raincoat gives the outfit a fall feel with the color combo.”

When Justin takes off the raincoat, his outfit is very stylish and comfortable. By combining the Bathing Ape camo polo shirt, GAP shorts, and Cole Haan Wingtip Lunargrands, each piece adds a dimension to the overall look. For example, the shirt alone visually stimulates the eye. The combination of brown, yellow, and green camouflage colors represent the true essence of autumn.

In addition, Justin’s appreciation for individuality is shown with his footwear. Wingtips and shorts are difficult to pull off but Justin executes this style very well.

“These Lunargrands are my first pair of Lunargrands and I’m hooked on them, they’re super comfortable and the wingtips with the hint of yellow midsole makes them a little different.” – Justin

From the park to the bar, Justin knows how to layer his outfits. He can attend a variety of events and locations without feeling under or overdressed. Justin states, “You could wear this outfit to your local hood party, brothel, park, bar, wherever really. I would definitely just wear this on a chill day, kind of want to look proper but not overdoing it.”
