Men’s Style Mondays

Whether you believe it or not, 2014 was the year of prints! Every magazine, catalog, or website would feature a model wearing a printed sweatshirt, blazer, or loafers. Sometimes, I would take a trip to some of my favorite retail stores and watch people go crazy over all the different prints. Literally, every shopping cart or bag would be full of printed clothes. I couldn’t resist the temptation myself and invested in a few peices.

Now that we are finished discussing my personal issues, let’s switch our gears for a moment to discuss #MensStyleMondays. If you haven’t noticed, I am focusing on prints this week. More specifically, leopard prints are my guilty pleasure. Scroll down below and take a look at today’s outfit.

Admittedly, I now have a healthy obsession for animal prints and they have taken over over my bank account.

I personally have a soft spot for leopard prints. If you take a trip to my bedroom, you will find at least six leopard print sweaters or cardigans folded in my dresser. That sounds like a little problem if you ask me.

Okay, let’s get back on track.

I started off this look by layering one of my favorite leopard print sweatshirts over an old denim button-down. Now, if you ever have a hard time trying to figure out what to wear with your printed sweater or sweatshirt, go with a denim option. A long sleeve, denim shirt is a perfect alternative for fall layering, so why not pair it with your favorite printed sweatshirt!

For the pants, I went with black skinny jeans. The skinny jeans helped neutralize the outfit by not taking attention away from my sweatshirt.

My look was completed with a pair navy blue socks and tassel loafers. Originally, I was a little nervous about the navy socks, but they looked great with the entire outfit!

Men’s Style Mondays

Happy Monday folks! In honor of fall, I wanted to incorporate subtle layers for this week’s #MensStyleMondays post.

So, why subtle layers? If you haven’t noticed the weather outside, our temperature decided to drop an entire 20 degrees this past weekend. Yes, 20 degrees! So, it’s very important to layer up during those colder afternoons.

From the statements mentioned above, I have put together an outfit that pulls the subtle layering concept all together. Check out the full feature below!

Skinny Jeans: H&M | Wingtip Boots: Studio Ink | Necktie: Nordstrom

For this outfit, my goal was to capture the essence of fall, with as many light weight layers as possible.

I started with my base layer, which was the modern solid color button-down from Gap. I can truthfully say that these shirts are very comfortable and affordable. Mine was purchased on sale for $17 and I have owned it for years. Although I am still in love with this particular shirt, it required more layers.

So, I threw on this camo tailored vest from Forever21. Originally purchased for $25, this vest is now a lot cheaper than its original price. Similar to the vest, this khaki jacket was also purchased for $25. I stumbled across this jacket on a H&M sale rack and quickly ran to the check out cash register. It’s very rare that you will find a nice thick khaki jacket for under $30. I guess it was truly meant for me.

I finished my outfit with a pair of skinny denim jeans from H&M, a pair of wingtip boots from DSW, and socks from H&M as well. Although these jeans are  a little snug, they look great with a pair boots.

Overall, I was able to pull a few layers together to create a full outfit for an affordable price!

Men’s Style Mondays

So every once in a while, I try to push the fashion envelope outside of my comfort zone. Wait, I don’t mean anything extreme like crop tops, printed jeggings, or a Kanye West inspired leather kilt. Seriously, I am not knocking anyone that wears clothing like that but that’s not really my style at all.

Now, when I say, “outside of my comfort zone,” that’s another way of saying, “Bryce Lennon but with a little edge!”

Traditionally, you will catch me on #MensStyleMondays with a pair of khakis, button-down, t-shirt, denim shorts, and loafers. For this post, I decided to switch up my look from dapper to street! Check out the full feature below.

Harem Pants: Uxcell | Denim Shirt: H&M | Tank: ASOS | Boots: Aston Grey

If you consider yourself edgy, you walk a thin line between acceptance and controversial in the world of fashion. Imagine how many stares and smirks I receive from my fellow side-walkers on a  daily basis. Think about it, when you like wearing stylish clothing, the mean comments come with the territory. So, you have to very comfortable with yourself. Just remember to soak everything in and keep having fun!

For this particular outfit, we can make the same argument. The everyday man of  today would not be caught dead wearing a pair of harem pants. I honestly have no problem wearing harem pants! They are comfortable, stylish, and you can combine them with a variety of looks. For instance, you can pair them with a denim shirt, tank, and combat boots like me, or you can be a little more adventurous and throw on a blazer. The sky is the limit here people!

If you want a pair of harem pants, you don’t have to look very hard. There are a number of online stores that have them available for men. Mine were purchased from a Chinese, online distributor called Uxcell. Through Amazon.com, I purchased these pants for $17. Yes, another steal for the week! In addition, you can  purchase a pair of harem pants in four colors: dark blue, light gray, dark blue, and black. Obviously, I went with the black pair.

Have you ever pushed the fashion envelope? If so, tell us about it in the comments section below!

Men’s Style Mondays

When we first started #MensStyleMondays, I was personally nervous about showing off my best looks on a weekly basis.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy taking pictures. However,  it’s hard to come up with a different look every week, especially an outfit that I could share and discuss with everyone.

Now, here is the trick. In order for me to come up with a different look each week, I had to focus on the various elements that define my personal style.

“Bryce, how do I define your personal style?”

That’s an easy question with a very complex answer. In short, I define my personal style as, “Retro Refined.” Retro in a sense that my style is influenced by the iconic, cinematic legends of our past. Refined meaning that my personal style has been influenced by the positive male role models in my life. Each encounter provided nuggets of wisdom that exposed me to the presentation of a distinguished gentlemen.

With all that being said, check out my 1960’s inspired today’s outfit below!

Waistcoat: Forever 21 | Button-Down: Ralph Lauren | Necktie: Ralph Lauren | Pocket Square: Nordstrom Rack | Denim Jeans: River Island | Socks: H&M | Shoes: ASOS

Perfect for an afternoon brunch date with friends or colleagues, I completed this look with a khaki waistcoat, denim jeans, oxford button-down, and leather loafers Traditionally, khaki garments are perfect for the spring and summer. However, this particular waistcoat was thick enough for the fall. Also, it looked amazing over my purple and white striped oxford button-down from Ralph Lauren.

Rather than chinos, I decided to modernize my outfit with a pair of  denim jeans. Now, a  solid pair of denim jeans are hard to come by these days, especially skinny jeans. These River Island jeans were purchased from ASOS for only $24. They were marked down from $50, which was another steal!

let’s not forget the accessories! I added a green necktie, chambray pocket square, and yellow socks for some final touches. Honestly, I love little pops of color!
