Men’s Style Mondays

During the months of September and December, the temperature can easily change from 70 to 30 degrees within a twenty four hour period. With that information in mind, it’s important to be prepared for unpredictable temperature changes each day. What’s a better way to prepare than wearing a few extra layers of clothing.

Furthermore, a discussion of autumn layering leads to this week’s #MensStyleMondays post. Today, I decided to show off one of my business casual, work outfits. Check out the full feature below!

Jersey Blazer: Forever 21 | Denim Jeans: Hot Topic
Socks: H&M | Saddle Shoes: G.H. Bass

Personally, I am very proud of this outfit. The colors went perfectly together.

At first, I was unsure of how to incorporate the various colors of autumn into my outfit. After mixing and matching a few items, I figured out how to a create a natural look with different layers. Typically, the foundation for most of my outfits consist of two primary colors. In this particular case, I started this outfit with the green and white striped button-down and navy necktie.

For anyone that has checked out one of our #MensStyleMondays posts in the past, you understand my love for waistcoats and vests. So, I decided to wear a brown, tweed waistcoat to help keep me warm and elongate my torso.

Although the tweed waist coat looked perfect over my green button-down and navy necktie, there was still something missing. At the last minute, I threw on my grey jersey blazer with a polka dot pocket square.

Since this was a semi-casual look, I decided to dress down my outfit with a pair of denim jeans. These jeans were purchased from Hot Topic some time last year. Every once in a while, I get the opportunity to wear these jeans with a few blazers. Finally, I finished off my outfit with a pair of suede saddle shoes.

How do you layer your clothes during the cooler months? Tell us in the comment section below!

Men’s Style Mondays

Happy Monday folks! It’s another gloomy day here in New Jersey but that’s okay! It just gives me another excuse to dress down this week.

For our latest #MensStyleMondays post, I decided to trade in my blazers, neckties, and chinos for a more casual look.

For the record, I am not under the weather at the moment, I have not lost my mind, and I am not going through something. Like everyone else, I do have days where I like to dress down. It’s just hard because I work so much. So, Check out my full outfit below!

Flannel Shirt: Ralph Lauren | T-Shirt: H&M | Denim Jacket: Levis

Rather than my favorite tassel loafers, I decided to throw on a pair of Samba classics with this look.

For any guy that once owned a pair of Samba classics, you will understand why these sneakers were so popular. For one, they are very comfortable. Let’s be honest, no one wants to own sneakers that scratch up their feet.  A pair of Samba classics could be worn all day without any problems. In addition, these shoes were built to last. Honestly, I have pair that were purchased back in 2011 and they still look great.

I paired my sneakers with a simple flannel shirt, harem pants, white long sleeve tee, and my favorite denim jacket.  Most of these clothes were hanging around my bedroom and were purchased for dirt cheap from different stores. However, I purchased the harem pants about six months ago from Amazon.com. Initially, I was hesitant about purchasing a another pair since I rarely wear my black ones. However, the harem pants go with almost every casual outfit, which I love.

So, how do you like my featured look this week?

Also, do you own a pair of sneakers that you love to wear with almost every outfit? Feel free to share with us in the comment section below.

Jeans: River Island | Wingtip Oxford Boots: Studio Ink

With this look, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone by wearing an all black outfit consisting of a blazer, turtleneck, skinny jeans, and boots. Originally, I had no intentions of wearing the blazer. However, after checking myself out in the mirror, I felt like my outfit was missing something important. More specifically, the turtle neck by itself wasn’t enough to hold the look together.

At first, I tried my leather jacket. Although the jacket looked great with the turtleneck, I still wasn’t satisfied. Then, it hit me! My black blazer would look perfect with this turtle neck. Already tailored, this blazer was an easier transition than the leather jacket. I simply rolled up the sleeves and was ready to head outside.

To be perfectly honest, black is not my go-to color and I rarely chose to wear it outside the house. However, after exploring the color even further, I now understand why people love wearing the color. For starters, black is one of those slimming colors that both men and women love to throw on. If worn correctly, an all black outfit will hide all those unflattering  shadows that may appear when you wear another color. Second, black can be worn with almost anything. For example, suppose you combined a simple black shirt with a blazer, jeans, or pair of shoes, you will look like a million bucks! Last but not least, black retains heat. If you happen to walk outside on a sunny day, you will be warmer if you wear black. That’s why the color is traditionally worn during the cooler months.

What do you think about this all black look? Leave some comments below and tell us what you think.

Men’s Style Mondays

For those of us that work a regular five day job,the expectation of wearing a different outfit to work everyday is quite unrealistic. Remember, there are 365 days in a year, and the average working American goes in the office at least 261 times. So, out of the entire year, you are working about 71% of the time.

We doubt any of our readers own 261 different work outfits. You would literally have to invest in a storage unit that can provide a space for every outfit in order for this plan to work. That sounds a little expensive, right?

Well, if you are considering the inexpensive option like most of us, you should invest in a variety of pieces that you can wear throughout the week. For example, check out the look I posted for this week’s #MensStyleMondays post below. Today, I put together some of my most favorite business casual essentials of the season. Socks: H&M | Loafers: ASOS | Bag: H&M

As a technology teacher for an elementary school, I’m constantly mix matching outfits throughout the week. Since my mornings are typically short, I have to be out of the house by 7:20 am. After my forty five minute commute, you will catch me wearing a blazer, plaid button-down, pair of khakis, and leather loafers. Later in the week, I may wear the same blazer with a different shirt and pair of pants.

In reference to the outfit shown above, I would wear this look on any day of the week. For starters, the navy blazer is a staple for any male teacher. This one in particular has that soft, cotton feel to it and I use it as one of my “knock around” jackets. Since it was only purchased for $45, I can dress up my outfits and use the pockets to hold most of my markers throughout the day.

For the plaid button-down, it was purchased during my undergrad days. Of course your body changes over time, so I got the shirt taken in a couple years ago.

I know everyone is probably wondering why my pants look a little wrinkled, but could you imagine chasing little kids around all day. Your pants would be a little worn too if you had deal with my job description every day. Since these h&m pants are gray, I have no problem combining them with a pair of colorful socks and brown leather loafers.

Please keep in mind that you don’t have to dress like a JC Penny model, but you do have to look semi-professional in the office. Remember, it’s all about taking what you have already in your closet and making it appropriate for the workplace.
