We have all heard the saying, “April showers bring may flowers,” right? Well, if you happen to go outside in the next few weeks, you may get a little wet. Let’s face it, the month of April is notoriously known for regular rain showers. With all that being said, you should always keep a light weight coat or jacket in hand.

I have all these jackets, but I don’t know which one to wear. What kind of jacket should I wear for Spring? You should consider a light weight trench, flight, or a leather jacket.

Leather, in the spring? Yes, leather in the spring! All the “cool kids” are wearing it. If you don’t believe us, Just ask our home girl Kennisha.

Known for her chic style and striking looks, Kennisha has a lot of knowledge about fashion and personal style. She had this to say about leather jackets: “A black leather jacket is a must have in everyone’s closet. It can be paired with just bout anything, but it’s your choice to use it to either dress up or dress down your outfit.”

Without a doubt, every woman should own a black leather jacket, especially for the spring. Just think about all the cute little outfits you can come up with. For example, you could dress down a tulle skirt, blouse, and heels. You can ever dress up a simple t-shirt and jeans with a leather jacket as well. The possibilities are endless.

Kennisha actually decided to dress down her outfit with her jacket and combat boots. She states, “My combat boots, well that’s what I like to call them, are my favorite. They give me an edgy look to whatever I wear & also can be paired with anything. I tend to pair them with some nice skinny leg jeans and a top.”

Let’s not forget about her brightly colored top! The green color definitely captures the essence of spring from a quick glance.

So, how do you feel about this outfit? Would you wear a leather jacket in the rain? Feel free to share with us below.

Casual: Suede Jacket

Just because it’s spring doesn’t mean it’s time to put away your outerwear. Remember, the temperature is ranging anywhere from 35° to about 60° on a daily basis. So, your best option is to keep all your lightweight winter coats out for a few more weeks.

If you weather conscious like our friend Ismail, you will have no problem keeping warm and stylish this season. Here, Ismail shows us how to incorporate a suede, leather jacket into your spring wardrobe.

Now, the great thing about leather is that it an be worn and styled in different ways. You can either dress it up with a nice button-up and slacks, or dress it down with a graphic tee and jeans. The possibilities are endless!

For Ismail, he went an authentic, suede jacket. Originally purchased from a thrift store in London last year, Ismail dressed down his jacket with a sweater, denim jeans, boots, scarf, and two necklaces. Oh yes, about those necklaces. Ismail purchased the beaded one from a friend that sells jewelry, and the other was created combining two necklaces together.

So, where would you wear this particular outfit? Ismail states, “I would wear this outfit anywhere because it’s comfortable and I think it’s very interesting. It represents me well. It says “I’m stylish and adventurous.” We definitely agree! This look is perfect for a casual day in the city.

In the next few weeks, the weather is about to turn. for the best, hopefully. Make sure to keep some winter coats hanging in your closet just in case.

“Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy — but mysterious. But above all black says this: I don’t bother you — don’t bother me.” – Yohji Yamamoto

Can you recall a time when you couldn’t find anything to wear? This was one of many situations in which your closet was full of clothes, and you only had ten minutes to get ready. What did you do?

Nine times out of ten, you probably found something black to wear. Depending on the season, black is one of those universal colors that can be worn with almost any pattern, print, or color. You can practically wear it anywhere, except to a wedding a course!

If you are wondering how to wear black casually, just ask our good friend, Donisha! Hailing all the way from North Carolina, we had a chance to catch up with this Urban Planner during one of our weekend excursions. Today, Donisha shows off one of her weekend friendly outfits. She had this about her look, “I would wear this outfit to my retail job or a fun Saturday out and about with friends.”

Yes, Donisha! This is one of those fun little outfits you could wear around the city. For starters, you can’t go wrong with a graphic shirt and blazer combo! For instance, just check our the details in the shirt. Donisha states, “My favorite piece of the outfit is the shirt because it sparkles ! What girl you know know don’t like a little sparkle?”

We agree Donisha, the shirt is very cute! Furthermore, the shirt and blazer combo is the perfect look for any rainy day, especially during the winter.

Also, we love how you threw us off with a black skirt. Traditionally, the everyday shopper would wear a nice pair of pants with this look, but not our girl Donisha. She was channeling her old school Vanessa Huxtable with her above the knee skirt. She was definitely giving us business up top, but party at the bottom. Why not add a few more guests to the party with pair of black stocking and leather buckled boots? We don’t see a problem.

Overall, we loved Donisha’s weekend outfit. What do you think? Leave us some comments below.

Button-Up: GAP | Boots: ALDO

In this economy, we have to take in consideration that everyone can’t afford to make purchases at some of the most expensive retail stores. Instead, we are forced to shop for reasonably priced clothes of good quality. So, if you like getting the most bang for your buck, you should get to know our  friend Elijah. A man known for his dapper style and immaculate taste, Elijah can find a deal from a mile away.

Giving us both dressy and casual, Elijah decided to step outside in one of his favorite outerwear essentials, the full length topcoat.

Quick question, what exactly is a topcoat? Think pea coat, but much longer.

Now, a good winter coat can be hard to come by these days, especially if you’re looking in all the wrong places. Needless to say, Elijah purchased this reasonably priced topcoat from J.Crew. A store  known for being a little expensive, J.Crew offers a variety of reasonably priced items on their sale rack. Go check them out!

Finding a coat is one thing, but putting together a great outfit underneath is another. When styling a topcoat, warmth, comfort, and price are the key. Consider a casual option with a sweater, jeans, and boots. That should definitely keep you warm this winter. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, try mixing some sport and street styles together with a sweatshirt, chinos, and sneakers. Also, don’t spend two much money on these garments. you should able to put an entire outfit together for less than $50.

With Elijah’s black overcoat, he decided to layer a denim button-up shirt under a striped sweater. The sweater and button-down combo were dressed it down with a pair of chinos and desert boots. In addition, he had this to say about his outfit, “I like this look personally because its dressy casual. It has so much versatility that comes along with it.  It’s professional enough for the office during the day,, but casual enough to wear to happy hour after work with the office team!”

Yes, Elijah! We love this versatile look as well. Keep up the great work, and we can’t wait to catch up with you again. Make sure you stay out of those expensive stores, and dive into the sale racks.
