The Lifestyle: Atlantic City Fashion Week

A little over a week ago, I had the pleasure of attending Season 7 of Atlantic City Fashion Week in Atlantic City, NJ.

Created back in 2011, the event itself caters to a wide audience of fashion enthusiasts and supporters alike. Just imagine a week’s worth of fashion shows, seminars, celebrity appearances, retail events and industry parties. Sounds like a great time, right?

Well, if you came to expect a great show, you left satisfied. I actually had the opportunity of attending the “Ready to Wear” runway show at Balley’s Hotel. Of course, I went into the event with high expectations, and left with a greater appreciation for fashion within my home state. From the professional models, to the designer clothes, the event itself was pure amazing! I left wanting more.

You can check out some photos from the event below! For more information about the week itself, head over to atlanticcityfashionweek.net.

Jeans: River Island | Loafers: Hush Puppies

To my friend Mother Nature,

I love what you have done with winter this season. For one, the snow has been thicker than ever, and I can’t thank you enough for all the extra days home from work. However, I have been waiting anxiously spring. Why? Considering it’s March, and I’m still wearing velvet blazers outside is kind of awkward. So, what can be do to speed up this process?

If I could actually write a letter to Mother Nature, I would have her bring Spring tomorrow. Wishful thinking, right? Well, if you live in New Jersey like myself, you know that we have at least three more weeks of cold weather.

With all that being said, I found some time to put together another winter outfit before the weather turns. Today, I decided to pair an old turtle neck and blazer together. Purchased for $40 from ASOS, this blazer was at the top of my Christmas list two years ago. Ironically, this blazer has been worn only three times.

The same can be said about the white turtle neck as well. It seems like I only wore this sweater to holiday events and parties. Needless to say, these two items look great together, especially with the grey skinny jeans and black loafers.

What do you think about this look? Is it appropriate enough for winter? Leave us some comments below.

Street Style: Urban Retro

post_briana2_122114_05post_briana2_122114_02post_briana2_122114_03post_briana2_122114_04post_briana2_122114_01Jacket: Thrifted | Shirt: Urban Outfitters |
Jeans: UNIQLO | Sneakers: Urban Outfitters |
Broach: Thrifted

Within the context of fashion and personal style, the terms “urban” and “retro” have been used interchangeably within the last the decade. Sure, these words have two separate meanings, but that doesn’t mean we can’t define it in our own terms. Thanks to the writers over at Vogue Magazine, the term “Urban Retro” has been simplified as a splash of Swinging Sixties and a slug of Nineties street wear. Think authentic vintage clothing, with a street style twist.

So, without another minute’s delay, allow us to reintroduce everyone to our girl Briana. Known for slaying the fashion game on a regular basis, Briana loves embracing her urban retro style. Today, Briana is showing off one of her exclusive street style looks.

Perfect for a simple day in the city, this look can be worn to and from everywhere! According to Briana, “I would wear this look on a laid back day, running errands, or hanging with friends.”

We have to agree with Briana, comfort is the key here people, especially with a great pair of jeans and sneakers. Rather than looking completely casual, Briana took it a step further by dressing up her denim jeans with a shear, ruffled top from Urban Outfitters.

Shear in the winter? Okay, that actually sounds like a chest old, but you can get away with it. How? Remember, winter is all about layers. So, Briana threw on her thrifted, 90s inspired coat for a little warmth.

Of course, we can’t forget to accessorize! For Briana, she decided to accessorize her top with another thrifted item, the golden broach.

So, do you like Briana’s urban retro look? Leave us some comments below!

The Lifestyle: Philly Small Business Fashion Week

While most people spent the last two weeks snowed in their homes, I had a great opportunity to attend a local fashion show. On Sunday, February 15th, Philly Small Business Fashion Week kicked off to incredible start, with a variety of local fashion which brought a weeks worth of fashion and style to the city of brother love.

According to their website, “PSB Fashion Week brings together Small Boutiques in the Philadelphia communities. The mission is to provide an avenue for business owners to market, promote and showcase their product to an audience of customers. 100% of all profits will be donated to Jaden’s Voice Inc., which will benefit Autism in our community.”

After six incredible days, the week  wrapped on Saturday, February 21st, with the “Couture” fashion show.

Due to my busy schedule, I could only attend a few events during the week. Luckily, I was able to snap some shots here and there. Check out some of the photos below.
